The artist should never need to explain himself or his work.  His medium of expression is his own free choice and whether it be photography, architecture, sculpture, music, literature, the results of his skill and perception should speak for him and for themselves.


A symphony is made to be listened to; a building to be lived with; a portrait to be looked at.

Each should be sufficient in itself.  In theory there should be no reason to explain or interpret.
